From a talk proposal I submitted in 2005, "Drive your life like you drive a Prius.".
The key to changing or reinforcing behavior is information, a simple matter of instrumentation. We get what we measure, so we need to measure the right things.
The model was the Prius dashboard.
"People behave differently when they drive a Prius. Driving a Prius means playing the game of conserving energy, and the Prius provides instant feedback that allows people to change their behavior."
The question underneath it:
Am I living my life according to my beliefs? Or am I putting the hammer down for transient pleasure?
feedrater is one experiment in this direction.
